Running: From Nothing, To Nowhere

Daily Prompt: Mad Libs

Turn to your co-workers, kids, Facebook friends, family — whoever — and ask them to suggest an article, an adjective, and a verb. There’s your post title! Now write.

My feet hit the soft ground, spraying sand behind me as I pick up speed. Waves crash at the shore, just missing my sneakers. Gulls fly overhead, screaming at each other for stolen scraps. They are only silent cries to my blocked ears, the steady beat of music coming over stronger than any other sound around me.

I run. I’m not running toward anything or from anything, I just run for the sake of it. For the feel of the ground beneath me, the wind in my face, the sun on my skin, the rhythm in my ears. My heart races, my blood rushes through my veins, my muscles flex. Just went I want to slow down, to stop, the music pushes me further and I keep running, even faster now.

This is my escape.
